Mona Belle Byrd

Mona Belle Byrd, 98, formerly of Syracuse, IN passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Mason Health & Rehab in Warsaw, IN. She was born on October 22, 1921 in North Webster, IN to Ray & Nora (Mock) Firestone.

She was a lifetime Syracuse / North Webster area resident and graduated in 1940 from Syracuse High School. She was married on February 24, 1940 to James H. “Jim” Byrd who preceded her in 1990. She retired from Dana Corporation in Syracuse after 13 years and formerly worked at G & W Pizza in Syracuse.

She enjoyed making pies for family and friends.

She is survived by:

2 Daughters – Sharon Lawson - Moser of North Webster & Linda Simcox of Syracuse

Son – David (Dawn) Byrd of Campobello, SC

7 Grand and several Gt. & Gt. Gt. grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother – Elyra “Sid” Firestone, and 3 sisters – Vera White, Velma Biltz, and Kathryn Kline.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. Private graveside services will be held in the Syracuse Cemetery at a later date. Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.

Preferred memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
