Nancy C. Olivares, 79, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 7:23 a.m. on Sunday,
May 23, 2010 at Goshen General Hospital. She was born on April 10, 1931 in Syracuse to Everett F. & Lena (Monroe) Ketering.
She graduated in 1948 from Syracuse High School and was married on May 16, 1953 in Syracuse to Jose Olivares who survives after 57 years of marriage. She grew up in Syracuse and lived in San Antonio from the late 1950’s until she returned in the mid 1990’s. She formerly owned & operated Wawasee Beauty Salon in the early 1950’s, was a Communication Supervisor with Marriott in San Antonio, TX and was Human Resource Director for Continental Hotels in San Antonio.
She is survived by:
Husband – Jose Olivares of Syracuse
5 Daughters – Elena Olivares of South Bend; Luz “Lucy” Olivares of South Bend; Mrs. Val (Monica) Garcia of Tivoli, TX; Nancy K. Alaniz of San Antonio, TX;
& Mrs. Joe (Toni) Van Gompel of Austin, TX
4 Sons – Joseph Olivares of Ann Arbor, MI; Eric Olivares of San Antonio, TX; Mark (wife, Bea) Olivares of San Antonio, TX; & Michael Olivares of Albuquerque, NM
12 Grandchildren
2 Sisters – Mrs Jack (Joan) Stoelting of Syracuse & Jean Koher of Syracuse
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter – Jeanette Olivares.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2010 at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Parish, 6941 E. Waco Dr., Syracuse, IN with Fr. Richard Hire of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Violett Cemetery in Goshen.
