Norma J. (Boyer) Hassel, 85, passed away on October 16, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born in Warsaw on February 27, 1938 to Donald Barnhart and Leatha (Valentine) Barnhart.
Norma was married to Jay Boyer on June 30, 1957 until his sudden passing in September of 1987. She later was blessed to marry again on January 6th, 2000 to Dr. Charles E. Hassel of Bremen.
Norma had an extraordinary life filled with love, determination, and selflessness. She was a graduate of North Webster High School and proudly remained a lifelong resident of the area. She was a very active and hardworking person who dedicated her time to various endeavors, which left indelible impacts on the lives of those around her.
Growing up on the farm as a hardworking young lady, she then worked for Kosciusko REMC for a brief time. After that, she remained a homemaker until she was widowed. She then worked for Dr. Richard Carman, in Warsaw, for 12 years.
Norma was most known for her immeasurable devotion to her family and friends. Her strength came from the Lord and her faith, which helped her throughout any trial or tribulation that came her way.
Always there to lend an ear or fix a dinner for fellowship around the dining room table, she was known by everyone for her amazing skills at preparing a wonderful home cooked meal.
Norma is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles E. Hassel; her son Troy (Sheila) Boyer of Broken Arrow, OK; her daughter, Michelle (Shelleigh) Boyer of Syracuse; three grandsons: Brooks Boyer of Broken Arrow, J. Braden Boyer of Fort Smith, AR, Braxton Studabaker of Milford, great-grandson, Ryker Boyer and Donna Leonhard, Fort Wayne (Sister). She is also survived by three stepchildren and their families including four step grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Jay D. Boyer, and parents, Donald and Leatha Barnhart.
Titus Funeral Home of North Webster is entrusted with care of Norma. Visitation will be held on November 11th at 1:00 with a Celebration of Life service starting at 2:00 at the North Webster Church of God.
