Norma L. Gerber, 77, of Syracuse, IN went to be with her Lord and Savior at 12:57 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Bristol. She was born on January 21, 1936 in Bluffton, IN to Chauncey Kenneth “C.K.” & Cleeda E. (Schafer) Reid.

She graduated in 1953 from Bluffton High School, attended Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL & Ball State University in Muncie, IN. She moved to Syracuse in 1960 from Bluffton. She was married on January 1, 1956, in Bluffton to John C. “Jack” Schacht, Sr. who preceded her on June 3, 1980.  She was then married on February 14, 1987 in Syracuse to Gerald L. “Gary” Gerber who preceded her on October 28, 2005.

She was a homemaker, former co-owner of Schacht Rubber Products & Gerber Networking both in Syracuse and also worked in the Library at Wawasee High School. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Syracuse and former member of the Tri Kappa in Bluffton.

She is survived by:
3 Daughters- Cynthia (Stan) Anderson of Stafford, MO; Susan (Ted) Hege of Bristol; LeeAnn (Brad “Bud”) Roby of Syracuse
1 Son John Schacht Jr. of Syracuse
7 Grand & 4 Gt. Grandchildren
1 Sister- Romanel (Joe) Biberstine of Laporte

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and an infant brother – Richard Dale Reid.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Eastway of the church officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at Mount Hope Cemetery in Huntington.

Memorial bequest may be given to American Diabetes Association, 30 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 2015, Chicago, IL 60602 or St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1413 N. Long Dr., Syracuse, IN 465676, or Center for Hospice Care, 4220 Edison Lakes Parkway, Suite 200, Mishawaka, IN 46545.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
