Omer E. Yoder, 85, of Milford, IN passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen, IN. He was born on October 13, 1928 in Nappanee, IN to Eli J. & Malinda (Hochstetler) Yoder.

He was a lifetime Elkhart / Kosciusko County resident and attended the Weldy Country School in Nappanee.  He was a United States Korean Army Veteran and on March 14, 1951 in Crewe, VA he married Katherine C. Kistler who preceded him on January 3, 2013. He was a truck driver for 30 years, the former owner/operator of Yoder Well Drilling and Aqua Wells in North Webster, and a former volunteer driver for the VA for 13 years.

He was a member and deacon of the Open Bible Baptist Church in Barbee and former member of the American Legion in Pierceton.

He is survived by:

7 Brothers - Eldon (Fannie) Yoder of Salem, MO; Gilbert Ray (Ida) Yoder of Bristol; Eli (Wilma) Yoder Jr. of Nappanee; Lonnie (Liz) Yoder of Shipshewana; Harley (Rosemary) Yoder of Nappanee; Andrew (Leann) Yoder of Topeka; Larry (Anna Mae) Yoder of Shipshewana

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son - Robert Yoder, grandson - Roger Yoder, and sister - Katie Chupp.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Sam Carns of the church officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton with military graveside rites.

Memorial bequest may be given to the Open Bible Baptist Church, 21 EMS B61, Warsaw, IN 46580. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
