Otto Burchett passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing at 81 years old.
Otto was born on the 26th of February, 1935 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He was raised by his mother, Alta Miller and eventually moved to Ohio before settling in Warsaw, Indiana in his early twenties.
He had been self-employed as a carpenter and real estate investor; flipping houses and preforming remodeling.
For many years, Otto had been a member of the Warsaw Moose Lodge and the VFW. He was an entrepreneur who was driven to work hard and who loved making money, no matter how small the amount. He was a caring father who loved spending time with his three daughters and his family. He loved joking with people and could be very ornery. He especially loved joking with his good friend, John “Redbone” Hughes.
Those left with memories to treasure include his three daughters; Dianna Burchett, Linda Burchett-Leeper and Barbara (Tim) Rohr, all of Warsaw; 9 grandchildren; Jill Kerby of Warsaw, Sherry Gatke of Warsaw, Misty Osborne of Minnesota, Michael Krise of Florida, Ashley (Patrick) Richardson of Fort Wayne, Amanda (Mark) Poling of Warsaw, Zachary Dustin of Warsaw, Morgan Rohr of Warsaw and Taylor Rohr of Warsaw; 10 great-grandchildren and two sisters; Lois Waddle and Lola Vires, both of Warsaw. He is also survived by his best buddy, Little-Bit, the dog.
Those who preceded him in passing include his mother, Alta (née Miller) Waddle, grandson, Ashton Rohr (March 2001) and the love of his life, Alice Rhoads (November 2014).
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 10 am to 12, Noon at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street in Warsaw. A funeral service which celebrates Otto’s life will be held after visitation, beginning at Noon. Pastor Bob Jarboe, Chaplain of Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice will officiate the service. Burial will take place in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Otto may be made to K21 Health Foundation’s Cancer Care Fund, PO Box 1810, Warsaw, Indiana, 46581-1810.
