Randall Pollen

Randall “Randy” Paul Pollen, 73, of Milford, Ind., passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, surrounded by his family after a long illness. Born in Harvey, Ill., to Charles and Jane (Haldewang), Randy spent his early years in Chicago Heights. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Randy played football on scholarship and met Donna Cleveland. Their 51-year marriage was a testament to their enduring partnership. 

He is survived by Donna; their daughter Ashlee (Cory) Kuhl; and three beloved grandsons, Kellan, Keiran and Calloway. He is also survived by his brother Charles (Barbara); niece Dana (Hans) Zigmund; nephews Noel (Ginnie) and Andrew (Jeremy Shivers); a great-niece and five great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A natural entrepreneur, Randy founded Marine Mooring, Inc., in Warsaw in 1985 with one building and four employees. Over the decades, his vision grew into four additional companies across northeastern Indiana: The Moorings Campground (North Webster), ProTech Metal Finishing (Ligonier), Top Master Marine (Warsaw) and Darc Properties (Syracuse).

His leadership was defined by integrity and a desire to lift up others. He believed in creating opportunities and second chances, treating employees like family and giving generously without seeking recognition. He held seven patents for marine-related products and left an indelible mark on his industries while effectively navigating the volatility of small business ownership.

A gentle giant with a big heart, Randy was known for his loyalty and steadfast support of family and friends. Whether arranging memorable vacations or mentoring, those who knew him admired his unassuming kindness.

Randy found joy in life’s simple pleasures – spending time at his cottage on Kuhn Lake, vacations to Disney with his grandsons and caring for animals. An Eagle Scout and a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, he gave back to his community as a high school football referee for 25 years and as a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Warsaw.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in his memory to Riley Children’s Hospital.

Randy’s impact wasn’t measured by recognition but by the lives he inspired and supported. He led with his heart, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty and a belief in the goodness of people. He made the world better – and for that, he will be remembered.
