Randy Reneker

October 25, 1959 — August 12, 2023

Warsaw

Randy Reneker, a beloved member of the community, role model, family leader, and father has passed away on August 12, 2023. Randy was a cherished individual who dedicated his life to serving others and making a positive impact in every role he fulfilled, including serving as a mentor and coach to countless people. He passed away quietly, free of pain and with his family sharing stories at his side.

Randy was born on October 25, 1959, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to William "Bill" Reneker and Judith "Judy" (Todd) Reneker-Burd. From an early age Randy had a love of all things sports. He graduated in 1978 from Warsaw Community High School where he actively participated in several sports and served as quarterback of the football team. Randy's passion for athletics continued throughout his life. After high school, Randy pursued higher education at Grace College and Taylor University.

Randy's career was marked by hard work and dedication. As the second-generation owner operator of Reneker's Sport Shop, he brought people together through various events that became celebrated annual traditions in the area. Two such occasions were the Baseball/Softball Open House and the Punt, Pass, Kick event where Randy's enthusiasm ignited excitement among local coaches and teams.

One of Randy's most cherished roles was playing Santa Claus for 17 years at Washington Elementary's Breakfast with Santa. Every year, children eagerly awaited this magical event where Randy spread joy and laughter with his warm smile and jolly personality.

Away from work and community involvement, Randy had diverse interests that brought him immense pleasure. He found joy in being a fantasy football guru, enjoying games of frisbee or golfing and Randy also actively participated in church softball for many years. He also earned the Garber Award in little leage for mental attitude. Above all, Randy's faith in Christ and love for his family were the cornerstones of his life.

Randy's proudest accomplishments ran deep within his family and faith. He was a second-generation member of the chain gang, proudly holding signal poles along the sidelines during games. This tradition has continued in his sons and grandson, a testament to the values Randy instilled in them. He also displayed unwavering commitment to his strong Christian faith by actively participating in the Stephen Ministry and as a longtime member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Randy's legacy lives on through his family members: devoted wife and high school sweetheart, Sherri Reneker of Warsaw; children: Travis (Megan) Reneker of Pierceton, Tyler (Tori) Reneker of Warsaw and Trisha (Darin) Lursen of Warsaw; his precious grandchildren: Zack, Elijah, Jordan, Asher, and Lainey; mother, Judith "Judy" Reneker; 3 siblings: Rob (Chris) Reneker, Rick (Kim) Reneker, and Renee (Sepas) Hernandez and his beloved pet, Milo. He was preceded in passing by his father, Bill Reneker and his grandparents.
