Ray Porter
Ray Porter, 79, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 6:30 AM in Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw, Indiana.
Ray, born August 1, 1935 in Floyd County, Kentucky, was the son of Walker and Bessie (Frazier) Porter.
He and Shirley A. Lay were married April 1, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Ray lived most of his life in Kosciusko County coming from Kentucky. He was employed by Dalton Foundry for 25 years retiring from its maintenance department.
He attended Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Claypool, Indiana.
Survivors include Shirley, his wife of 60 years, Warsaw; 5 daughters and 2 sons-in-law: Bonnie and Reggie Shepherd, Claypool; Cindi and Marty Justice, Winona Lake, Indiana; Pam Engle of Sidney, Indiana; Donna Porter of Marshall, Illinois; and Margaret Parker of Bath, Ohio; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law: Mitchell and Barb Porter of Armore, Oklahoma; Tim Porter, Warsaw; and Gregg and Holly Porter, Columbia City, Indiana; 2 sisters: Marie Cavins of Wabash, Indiana; and Jewell Porter of North Webster, Indiana; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law: Robbie Porter of Corbin, Kentucky; and Larry and Karen Porter of Newport, Kentucky; brother-in-law: Roger “Slim” Hysell, LasVegas, Nevada; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by a son: Paul Porter; 3 brothers: Dave Porter, Paul Porter and Buddy Porter; 2 sisters: Helena May and Mary Faye Hysell.
Family and friends will gather for a time to share memories in support of each other Thursday, May 7th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580. Ray’s life will be celebrated in a service to be held Friday, May 8th at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Dean Ealey of E.A.B.T.C. will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
