Raymond G. "Gene" Kitson

Raymond G. “Gene” Kitson, 87, formerly of Syracuse, IN passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw, IN. He was born on February 18, 1931 in Syracuse, IN to Raymond H. & Mary Erin (Flemming) Kitson.

He graduated in 1949 from Syracuse High School, attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN and was a United States Air Force veteran. He was married on June 18, 1955 in Syracuse, IN to Peggy Sue Elliott who survives. He was formerly employed at New Paris Lumber, retired as a mail carrier for the Syracuse Post Office after 27 years, and worked at Ace Hardware in Syracuse after his retirement. He was a lifetime Syracuse area resident until he moved to Warsaw in December 2017.

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse and was an official for high school baseball & basketball for many years.

He is survived by:

Wife – Peggy Kitson of Warsaw

Twin Daughters – Mary Kitson of Kingsland, GA & Marie Kitson of St. Marys, GA

Son – Alan (Penny) Kitson of Warsaw

2 Grand, 2 Step Grand, 6 Gt. Grand, and 3 Step Gt. Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents & brother – Richard “Dick” Kitson.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St. Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in the funeral home with Alan Kitson & Pastor David Henry officiating. Burial & military graveside rites will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
