Raymond “Ray” Setlak, 74, of Pierceton, IN passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Gulfside Hospice in Zephyrhills, FL. He was born on January 17, 1946 in Gary, IN to Alexander & Stephanie Setlak.
He graduated in 1964 from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, IN and was a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was married on June 20, 1970 in Gary, IN to Judy Ann Baros who survives. He moved to the Pierceton / North Webster area in 1988 from Merrillville, IN and wintered in Zephyrhills, Florida for the past 8 years. He retired in 2001 after 34 years with Farm Bureau Insurance as a claim adjuster and was then self-employed for 10 years as a private investigator.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 253, former member of Masonic Lodge in Griffith, IN, and Calumet Adjusters Association.
He is survived by:
Wife – Judy Setlak of Pierceton
Daughter – Susan Marie (Philip) Mishler of Milford
Son – Michael Alan (Tiffani) Setlak of New Haven
4 Granddaughters – Anna & Lily Setlak of New Haven & Alexis & Julie Mishler of Milford
2 Sisters – Alberta Doege of Crown Point & Marguerite Duffy of Glendale, AZ
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters – Grace Cooper & Patricia Schmidt.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Craig Streby officiating.
Preferred memorials may be given to the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 1048 S. 325E, Pierceton, IN 46562.
