Raymond S. Newcomer

Raymond S. "Pickle" Newcomer, 88, of Syracuse died Tuesday evening, November 24, 2009 at his residence. He was born August 26, 1921 in Union Center, IN to Eli and Laura Belle (Stouder) Newcomer.
He was a lifetime New Paris/Syracuse area resident and graduated in 1940 from Syracuse High School. On April 21, 1946 in Syracuse he married Elsie "Marvis" Ott who preceded him in death in 1975. He retired in 1988 from Penn Controls in Goshen in the shipping department after 37 years of service. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse.
He is survived by:
1 Son - Paul (wife, Penny) Newcomer of Syracuse;
2 Grandchildren - Jennifer Newcomer & Kevin Newcomer & 2 Step Grandchildren;
1 Great Grandson - Andrew Newcomer & 2 Step Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters - Goldie Newcomer & Annie Adams, & 4 brothers - Charles, Edward, Vernon, & Jake Newcomer.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St. Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 801 S. Huntington St, Syracuse, IN with Rev. David Herr of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
Memorial bequests may be given to Wawasee Kiwanis (Riley Children Hospital). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
