Reba Arlene Smothers, 92, of Warsaw, IN passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at her home. She was born on January 21, 1923 in Shinglehouse, PA to Andrew & Martha (Stoddard) Reynolds.
She grew up in Shinglehouse, PA, attended high school there, and attended business college in Hammond, IN. She was first married on April 6, 1940 to Robert McGee and then on October 26, 1979 in Highland, IN to Wallace E. Smothers who preceded her on October 9, 2002. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at East Chicago & Hammond Credit Bureaus for over 10 years. She moved to the Warsaw area 27 years ago from Schererville, IN.
She was a member of the New Harvest Church of the Nazarene in Warsaw and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by:
2 Daughters – Sharon Hilton of Kalkaska, MI & Judith (Chris) Kalajian of Schererville
9 Grand & Step Grand, 21 Gt. Grand & Step Gt. Grand, and 5 Gt. Gt. Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter – Roberta Millikan, grandson – Dan Holloway, and gt. Grandson – Zach Holloway, 3 sisters - Maxine Slawson, Alberta Reynolds, & Roberta Reynolds, and 3 brothers – Raymond, Lehman, & Lyman Reynolds.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Seaver of the church officiating. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m. (CST) on Thursday in the chapel at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Ave, Schererville, IN.
Preferred memorials may be given to Great Lakes Hospice,3115 S. Webster St., Kokomo, IN 46902. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
