Rebecca A. Chaney

Rebecca Anne “Becky” Chaney, 63, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.  She was born on July 1, 1955 in Hastings, MI to Harold L. & Metha M. (Waters) Gray.

She graduated in 1973 from Hastings High School and moved to the Syracuse area 39 years ago from Michigan. She was employed with Tranter Graphics in Syracuse for past 11 years and former owner / operator of Key Tax Service in Syracuse.

She is survived by:

Daughter – Jessica Schmitt of Ocoee, FL

2 Sons – Douglas (Lisa) Chaney of Hawley, TX and Bryan (Heather) Chaney of Syracuse

5 Grandchildren

Sister – Susan (Patrick) McGarry of Grand Rapids, MI

Step Mother – Mary Lou Hart of Hastings, MI

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson – Steven Chaney.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN.  Memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Kelley of Word of Truth Ministries officiating. Private family burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Hastings, MI at a later date.
