Reese A. Small, 73, of Ligonier, IN (formerly of Syracuse, IN) passed away at 2:22 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Avalon Village Nursing Home in Ligonier. He was born on December 1, 1937 in Lancaster, SC to Robert Andrew & Bessie Glendora (Price) Small.
He grew up in Lancaster, SC and attended Lancaster Public Schools. He served in the United States Navy and was married on November 18, 1959 in Las Vegas, NV to Leora I. Williams who preceded him in death on May 2, 2001. He moved to Syracuse in 1968 from California and retired in 1999 from Silgan Plastics Corporation in Ligonier after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Glass Molders, Pottery, Plastics & Allied Workers International Union Local #229 and American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse. He formerly attended the Shiloh Bible Baptist Church in Ligonier and the Church of God in Syracuse.
He is survived by;
3 Daughters – Mrs. Tad (Tami) Freed of Syracuse; Mrs. Woodrow (Teri) Wagoner of Oxford, N.J.; & Sharol Hershberger of Ligonier
7 Granddaughters - & 7 Gt. Grandchildren
Half Sister – Mildred Alice Starnes of Rockhill, SC
He was preceded by his parents, wife, 2 brothers – Robert David Small & Carl Dexter Small; half sister – Lula Whitaker; 3 half brothers – Perry Luther Small, Moody Farris Small, & George Rufus Deese
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Jimmy Shepherd of the Shiloh Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequest may be given to the American Heart Association, 6100 W. 96 th St., Indianapolis, IN 46278 or the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
