Regina Blanchard, 87 and a resident of South Whitley, was surrounded with love by her family when she passed away at home on September 24, 2023. She was a hardworking individual who made lasting impressions on those she encountered throughout her life.
Gina, as most knew her, had a career spanned across various places, including News Sentinel in Fort Wayne; Naples Community Hospital in Naples, FL; University of Texas - Southwest; and Heyerly's Grocery in South Whitley. However, she held her most cherished roles as a mother, grandmother, and wife.
Gina and LB loved putting together puzzles. She also loved reading books from the library.
Regina was the daughter of James Russell and Wuanita "June" Hawthorne. She was born in Fremont on October 31, 1935 and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1953.
Regina was known for her dedication to family and friends. She leaves behind her husband, Lawrence "LB" Blanchard of South Whitley with whom she shared nearly 24 years. In addition she is survived by her six children: Marc (Chip) Schuerman of Frisco, TX; Michael (Debbie) Schuerman of Louisville, Kentucky; Bradley (Patti) Schuerman of Fitchburg, MA; Lisa (Clay) Herring of Fort Wayne; Angela (Matthew) Thatcher of Fort Wayne; and Laura Schuerman of South Whitley. She is further survived by 18 grandchildren: Amanda, Tiffany, Bradley Jr., William, Johann, Ebony, Jessica, Chad, Joshua, Justin, James, Matthew, Kelli, Zachary, Alaina, Casey, Wyatt, and Taylor; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; four step children: Bryon "Larry" (Connie) Blanchard of South Whitley, Joseph Paul (Suzanne) Meggison of Ashland, IL, Shea Lee Blanchard of Huntington and Taylor Ewing of Wabash and four step grandchildren: Josie, Jentry, Gabby and Jaxon.
Those who preceded her in passing include her parents, James Russell and Wuanita "June" Hawthorne and brother, Michael Hawthorne.
Regina Blanchard will be remembered for her strong work ethic and dedication to her loved ones. Her kindness, warmth, and love touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the memories of those she knew.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with care of Regina. Friends may gather in her memory at Morches Park, 1035 East State Road 205, Columbia City on Sunday, October 29 beginning at 2 p.m.
