Richard D. King, 83, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 2:20 PM in his Warsaw, Indiana home while surrounded by his family.
He was born September 7, 1930 in Mentone, Indiana to George and Freda (Wagner) King. On June 24, 1950 in Mentone, he and Joan Bowser were joined in marriage.
Over a period of 54 years he drove truck for several commercial truckling companies retiring in 1992.
Richard was a member of Warsaw Eagles and Warsaw Moose. He loved fishing and sprint car racing; Jeff Gordan was his favorite Nascar driver.
He is survived by Joan, his wife of 63 years; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Rita and John Brown, Warsaw; and Deb and Larry Steller of Pierceton, Indiana; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Richard and Diane King and John King - all of Warsaw; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 step great, great grandchild. Also surviving are 2 sisters and a brother-in-law: Janet and Bob Brooks of Nappanee, Indiana and Barbara Ross of Mentone.
Richard was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Raymond King and Stuart King; 2 sisters: Jean Pritchard and Donna Copeland; and a granddaughter: Kelly Jo Hatfield.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 3-6 PM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A celebration of Richard's life will take place Monday morning, November 18th beginning at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Richard's nephew, Scott Hoskins, will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
