Richard “Dick” Yoder, a lifetime Warsaw resident, passed away on November 15, 2020 at home in Warsaw. He was 81 years old.
Born on November 1, 1939 in Fort Wayne, Dick was the son of Ervin E. Yoder and Ailleen (Holderbaum) Himes whom most knew as “Marie.” He grew up in Warsaw and attended Miami Military Academy before joining the United States Army, serving mostly in Germany from 1957-1960.
Dick was a hard worker and a straight shooter. He spent more than twenty years with City of Warsaw Street Department and went on to work for ACE Hardware in Warsaw after retiring. As a proud veteran he was also a member of North Webster American Legion, Post 253.
On October 29, 1961, Dick was married to Dardanella (Himes) Yoder. The pair spent more than 55 years together before her passing on July 15, 2017. He was also preceded in passing by two sons, Michael Edwin Julian and Richard DeWayne Yoder. He is survived by his children: daughters, Laura (Wes) Engle of Warsaw and Tina (Justin) Embry of Sierra Vista, AZ and sons, David Julian of Columbia City, Brian (Brenda) Yoder of Warsaw, Chris (Tracy) Yoder of Mentone; fur-son, Tucker; grandchildren: Holly Trump, Jon Engle, Ben Engle, Brook Julian, Tim Julian, Dugan Julian, Judd Julian, Tyler Julian, Connor Julian, Justin Yoder, Nate Yoder, Josh Embry, Zach Embry, Amber Yoder, Bryanna Hanson, Devon Hanson, Dillon Yoder, Izekiel Yoder and Kirstyn Yoder 27 great-grandchildren.
Assisting the family is Titus Funeral Home of 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw where visitation will be held on Friday, November 20 beginning at 10 a.m. At Noon, Pastor Loren Bradley will officiate Dick’s funeral service. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with graveside honors by members of the United States Army and American Legion.
