Richard I. Day

Richard I. Day, 89, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 10:55 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Goshen Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1932 in Moville, IA to Ivan L. & Irma M. (Alldredge) Day.

He graduated in 1951 from Sigourney High School in Sigourney, IA, attended Biola University in Los Angeles, CA, and Prairie Bible Institution in Three Hills, Alberta Canada. He was married on March 19, 1961 in Clutier, IA to Phyllis J. Grover who preceded him on October 30, 2011. He grew up in Iowa, moved to the Syracuse area in 1971, and retired in 1994 from Fairmount Homes in Nappanee after 14 years.

He was a member of Grace Bible Baptist Church in New Paris and formerly served on the board of directors at the church.

He is survived by:

2 Daughters – Beth (Scott) Clements of Goshen, Eunice (Robert) Snyder of Lewistown, MT

2 Sons – Paul Day of Michigan City & Phillip Day of Syracuse

8 Grand & 2 Gt. Grandchildren

Sister – Marilyn (Herb) Howard of Muscatine, IA

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 grandsons – Timothy Clements & Jonathon Snyder, sister – Maureen McDole, and 2 brothers – Bill & Loren Day.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Joel Wallenbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery.
