Richard Thomas “Dick” Loper, 76, of Cromwell, IN passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at his home. He was born on January 8, 1939 in Gary, IN to Robert Carlton & Mildred (King) Loper.
He grew up in Chesterton, IN and attended Chesterton High School. He was married on July 3, 1981 to Joanne Border who preceded him on August 13, 2011. He was a former saw mill operator in Howe, IN, was an auto mechanic most of his life and formerly worked at Rochester Ford in Rochester, IN. He moved to the Cromwell area 32 years ago from Rochester, IN.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster, V.F.W in Syracuse, & Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Syracuse. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse and was raised in the Southern Baptist Church.
He is survived by:
5 Daughters – Debbie Zell of Valparaiso; Samantha (John) Shock of North Webster; Shari (Darrell) Carr of Warsaw; Melissa (Michael) Steffen of Warsaw; & Zoa Lentz of Cromwell
Son -Tom Maney of Valparaiso
5 Grand, 9 Gt. Grand & 1 Gt. Gt. Grandson
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 step sons – Patrick & Michael Covington, grandson – John Stewart.
No public services are planned. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County. Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN is in charge of arrangements.
Preferred memorials may be given to the Richard Loper Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 72, North Webster, IN 46555. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
