Robert J. Hamilton, 87, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 9:05 PM in Millers Merry Manor, Warsaw, Indiana.
Born on March 12, 1929, Robert was one of five children and the son of Homer and Marjorie (Shrock) Hamilton.
Robert enlisted with the United States Army on January 8, 1947 in Warsaw. He served as a Neuro Psychiatric Technician and was honorably discharged on December 10, 1948 through Valley Forge GH in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
On November 13, 1965 Robert was married to Patsy Hamilton in Indianapolis, Indiana. Together the two made their home in Warsaw.
Robert was a machinist – leadman for Clausings, Inc. and worked for Warsaw Community Schools as a janitor. He was a former member of Warsaw Moose Lodge and an avid fisherman, fishing every day. He enjoyed hunting, playing BINGO, and working in the yard. He loved his beagles and his family.
Those left to cherish memories of Robert are his wife, Patsy Hamilton of Warsaw; son, Robert Hamilton, Jr. of Warsaw; two daughters, Patricia “Trish” (husband Chuck) Freeman of Warsaw and Marjorie Hamilton of Warsaw; step-son, Mike (wife Patty) Swope of Warsaw, three step-daughters, Janet (husband Troy) Ousley of Claypool, Rita (husband Darwin) Busz of Warsaw and saw; Cindy (husband Tim) Brown of Warsaw; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 22 step great-grandchildren, three step great-great-grandchildren and brother Walter (wife Reba) Hamilton of Warsaw.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Randy Swope; daughter, Suzanne Hamilton; granddaughter, Terri Summers; grandson, Matthew Brown; brother, Homer Hamilton, Jr. and two sisters, Pat Hatfield and Jean Kain.
Friends and family may gather for a time of visitation on Wednesday, June 22nd from 11 AM to 1 PM in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw. A celebration of life service will be held afterward in the funeral home, beginning at 1 PM, with Pastor Nick Stanton officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
The family has asked that gifts in memory of Robert be directed to Riley Children’s Hospital, 702 Barnhill Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
