Robert was born to Robert A. Johnson and Lois J. Stone-Johnson on January 28, 1968. He was a graduate of Wawasee High School and had worked for Biomet and Explorer Van for many years. Most recently he worked with Elwood Staffing.
Shortly after high school, Robert enlisted into the service of his country through the United States Army. He began his service in Indianapolis and was decorated throughout his nine enlisted years. He was an expert marksman and qualified as both a mechanic and an infantryman, assigned to the 327th Infantry Regiment. Specialist Robert L. Johnson was honorably discharged from Fort Campbell, Kentucky and later re-enlisted with the Army National Guard, where he served for several more years.
Robert was a hard worker and spent countless hours renovating his home. He was good with his hands and a talented wood worker. He was a member of the American Legion and helped his mother in many ways, allowing her to stay in her home for much longer than she could have otherwise. Above all, Robert was fun-loving, kindhearted and blessed with a good sense of humor.
