Obituary for Robert Johnson Sr.

Robert Lee Johnson, Sr., age 50 and a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, passed away in Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital on Thursday, April 12th at 12:44 a.m.
Robert was born to Robert A. Johnson and Lois J. Stone-Johnson on January 28, 1968. He was a graduate of Wawasee High School and had worked for Biomet and Explorer Van for many years. Most recently he worked with Elwood Staffing.
Shortly after high school, Robert enlisted into the service of his country through the United States Army. He began his service in Indianapolis and was decorated throughout his nine enlisted years. He was an expert marksman and qualified as both a mechanic and an infantryman, assigned to the 327th Infantry Regiment. Specialist Robert L. Johnson was honorably discharged from Fort Campbell, Kentucky and later re-enlisted with the Army National Guard, where he served for several more years.
Robert was a hard worker and spent countless hours renovating his home. He was good with his hands and a talented wood worker. He was a member of the American Legion and helped his mother in many ways, allowing her to stay in her home for much longer than she could have otherwise. Above all, Robert was fun-loving, kindhearted and blessed with a good sense of humor.
Surviving are his children: daughter, Christine Fear (husband, Chaz) and son, Robert Lee Johnson, Jr. (wife, Stephanie); four grandchildren: Kiyliyen, Lynken, Letty and Jett; brother, Lonnie Shoffner and step-son, Michael Berry. He was preceded in passing by his father, Robert A. Johnson, mother, Lois Stone, and brother, Larry Johnson.
Friends and family will gather for a time of remembrance from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, April 16th in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. with Reverend Dave Hummel officiating. Burial will take place in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery with military honors provided by members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and United States Army.
Those wishing to express their sympathy may do so by donating toward Robert’s final expense account at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
