Robert D. "Bob" Martin, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 12:20 AM in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Born December 27, 1924, he was the son of Charles and Ruth (Steffe) Martin. A lifelong Kosciusko County resident, Bob was a 1942 graduate of Atwood High School, Atwood, Indiana.
He served with the United States Army in World War II. On August 20, 1948 he and Patricia Harris were joined in marriage.
For 17 years he worked on the Kosciusko County Highway Department where he was a mechanic. He retired in 1990.
Bob was a member of the Whitley County Coon Hunters Association and the Mountain Cur Association. He also was a 4-H Shooter.
Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Carol Martin of Columbia City, Indiana; James A. and Rebecca Martin of Manassas, Virginia; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law: Christine and Mark Vandewalle of Pierceton, Indiana; Janet Best of Warsaw; and Debra and Dallas Morrison of Warsaw; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Betty Miner, Atwood, and Catherine McGowen of Warsaw.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Martin (July 13, 1996) and 2 sisters: Joy Martin and Joan Taylor.
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Friday, January 31st from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service celebrating the life of Robert Devoe Martin will take place Monday, February 3rd beginning at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Roland Kramer of Winona Lake Free Methodist will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family has asked the gifts in Bob's memory be given to Riley Hospital for Children, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202.
