Robert S. Taylor, 81, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 12:45 PM in St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Bob was born to Robert W. and Helen H. (Smith) Taylor on November 13, 1933 in Warsaw, Indiana.
He was a 1951 graduate of Claypool High School, Claypool, Indiana. Bob and Marjorie J. Black were joined in marriage May 31, 1953 in Warsaw.
A lifetime Warsaw resident, Bob worked for Kimble Glass for 45 years retiring in 1999 from the quality control department.
He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County where he enjoyed the Men’s Prayer Breakfast. He faithfully read and studied his Bible. Bob was an avid follower of Grace College basketball and IU Basketball. He was a diehard Cubs fan. He also enjoyed gardening, bowling and playing softball with his kids and grandkids.
Those left behind with their own memories to treasure are 4 sons and 2 daughters-in-law: Tim and Cathryn Taylor, Claypool; Ted and Betty Taylor, Warsaw, Todd Taylor and Troy Taylor – both of Winona Lake, Indiana; daughter: Tammy Taylor, Warsaw; 8 grandchildren and their spouses: Daniel Taylor, Mentone, Indiana; David Taylor, Warsaw; Matt and Nichole Taylor, Silver Lake, Indiana; Sarena Taylor, Warsaw; Kyle and Jennifer Taylor, Warsaw; Barbara and Kory Stucky of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Zachary Taylor, Warsaw; and Ryan Taylor, Warsaw; 4 great grandchildren: Kinsey, Nick, Chevy, Keegan, Kyra and Cael; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law: Joyce Bockman, Plymouth, Indiana; and Janet and Dick Stouder of Atwood, Indiana.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife: Marjorie Taylor (April 19, 2001); son: Tom Taylor (October 24, 2011); great grandson: Gryffin Stucky (November 17, 2014); 2 sisters: June Taylor and Jean Egolf; and brother-in-law: Ray Bockman (August 4, 2011).
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing memories in support of each other Tuesday, January 20th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
A service celebrating Bob’s life will take place Wednesday, January 21st beginning at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Terry Bradford of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Claypool.
The family has asked that gifts in Bob’s memory be directed to Grace College Men's Basketball Department; 200 Seminary Drive; Winona Lake, Indiana, 46590.
