Robert Vanlaningham

Robert L. (Bob) Vanlaningham, 74, of Milford died at 10:40 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 at his residence. He was born on November 15, 1933 in Marengo, IN to Charles Norman & Lillie Mae (Vance) Vanlaningham.

He attended Marengo & Hardinsburg, IN public schools and served in the United States Army. On November 14, 1958 in Marengo he married Esther M. Thompson who survives. He moved to the Milford area 45 years ago from southern Indiana.

He was a self employed carpenter and was formerly employed at Rinker Boat Company of Syracuse, Turtle Top in New Paris, Northern Indiana Public Service Co., and Barth Manufacturing in Milford.

He is survived by:

3 Sons - Norman (wife, Cindy) Vanlaningham of Ligonier; Ed (wife, Kim) Vanlaningham of Milford; & Rodney (wife, Angela) Vanlaningham of Milford
7 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren
3 Brothers - Howard (wife, Mary) Vanlaningham of Milford; Hazel (wife, Helen) Vanlaningham of Milford; & Glen Vanlaningham of Milltown, IN

He was preceded by his Parents, 4 Sisters - Mary Magill, Ruby Richardson, Delsie Stroud, & Dorothy Bundy, 2 Brothers - Bruce Vanlaningham & Charles Vanlaningham, and 1 Half-Brother - Kenneth Elliott

Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Stroud of the Carthage Wesleyan Church and Rev. Larry Rice of the New Salem Church of the Brethren officiating. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
