Robert Zajicek, known to most as Bob, passed away peacefully in his home at Chapman Lake on January 31, 2024. He was born on July 8, 1943, in East Chicago to Robert and Elizabeth (Schachte) Zajicek. He spent his formative years in Northwest, Indiana and was a graduate of Hammond Tech.
Bob served in the US Navy for 4 years. He worked at US Steele as an Instrument Technician for 22+ years. Upon retirement Bob and Jean pursued their lifelong dream of owning and operating Chapman Lake Marina.
He was a man of few words, yet when he spoke he left a lasting impression and was loved dearly by all. Bob’s passion was fishing and enjoying time on Chapman with his family and friends. Bob's family held the most important place in his heart. Nothing brought him greater happiness than spending quality time with them.
He is survived by his wife of more than 58 years, Jean; four daughters: Robin (Jeff) Bulington of Rensselaer and their children: Katie, Bret and Kara; Christine (Gary) Zagaros of Indianapolis and their children: Megan and Kyle; Stacy Newton of Warsaw and her children: Emily and Ryan and Tracy (Tony) Beiler of Warsaw and their children: Maxx, Dylan, Jonathon and Jacob. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and his brother, Kerry Zajicek of Hammond. He was preceded in passing by his parents: Robert and Elizabeth Zajicek.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with care of Bob and the family. Friends may gather at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw for a visitation on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 3 to 7 p.m. Memorial gifts may be directed to K21 Health Foundation's Cancer Care Fund or to Chapman Lakes Conservation Association with envelopes available at the Funeral Home.
