Robert L. “Bob” Kieler, 92, of Syracuse, passed away at 11:23 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on October 21, 1924 near Arcola, IN to Roy L. & Mary (Leffers) Kieler.
He graduated in 1942 from Arcola High School and was a World War II Army veteran. He retired in 1994 from Rea Magnet Wire in Fort Wayne after 51 years. He moved to Syracuse from Fort Wayne in 1994 and wintered in Cape Canaveral for 18 years. He attended the Syracuse Church of God and was a member of American Legion Post #233 in Syracuse & Eagles Aerie 3760 in Syracuse.
He is survived by:
Daughter – Gail S. Kieler of Fort Wayne
2 Sons – Alan (Jennifer Rebisr) Kieler of Lexington, KY & Scott Kieler of Fort Wayne
Companion – Jean Niles of Syracuse
Step Daughter – Christie (Richard) Essig of Syracuse
Step Son – Randy Niles of Syracuse
11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren
He was preceded by his parents, 2 Sisters – Mary Alice Mattingly & Margaret Dishong, and 3 Brothers – Clinton, Alfred, & Richard Kieler
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Stan Owen, of the Syracuse Church of God, officiating. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the Eel River Cemetery in Churubusco, IN.
