Roger Perkins, a devoted family man, passed away at his Leesburg home on August 21, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on July 23, 1948, in Carey, Ohio, to Willie Perkins and Betty Lou (Dyer) Coldiron, Roger lived a life characterized by both warmth and tenacity. He was a heartful man who cherished his familial bonds above all, and his legacy will forever resonate within the hearts of those who had the fortune to know him.
Roger took immense pride in hosting Thanksgiving gatherings, where laughter filled his home and delicious aromas wafted from the kitchen. Family was the nucleus of Roger's existence, and he found unbounded joy in being surrounded by his children and his grandchildren. Every family reunion was a testament to the love he nurtured throughout the years, creating cherished memories that will be held dear by his loved ones.
A fighter in every sense, Roger faced health challenges head-on, embodying the independent spirit he was known for. He was no stranger to hard work, often channeling his energy into passions that included hunting rabbits and pheasants, foraging for mushrooms, and ice fishing with his children. The great outdoors was his sanctuary, where he delighted in the sun on his face and the gentle lapping of water as he enjoyed time out on the boat.
Roger also served his country with honor. After completing high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly fulfilling his duty to protect and serve. His dedication to his country reflected the same steadfastness he exhibited in all aspects of his life.
Left to carry on his memory are his loving children, Kyle Perkins and Tracy Irvine; grandchildren, Conner, Kylie, Jenna, Ryan, Brittney, Ricardo, and Tobias; and great-grandchildren, Camden, Izabella, and Everley who will forever cherish their time spent with him. He is further survived by his siblings, Emogene Kidwell, Jo Wilson, Ron Perkins, Chris Holmes, and Terry Coldiron, who will keep his spirit alive in their hearts. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Perkins; grandson, Luke Perkins; and brother, Randy Coldiron.
