Ronald E. Norman, a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 1:38 p.m. in Winona Lake at Grace Village Retirement Community. He was 91 at the time of his death.
Known by many as “Ron,” he was born on May 8, 1928 in Flint, Michigan, Ron was the son of Richard L. and Freda K. (Rickel) Norman. He attended school in the Warsaw area and worked for Kosciusko County Highway Department for more than thirty years. Although he worked in nearly every position there, he retired from the sign department. He also owned his own floor refinishing business and ran a basketball stand at the fair.
On April 1, 1951, Ron was married to Jeanette Smith. Together their family includes four children and 10 grandchildren, all of whom Ron loved dearly. He was family focused and was known for his sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, camping and all kinds of sports. For many years he enjoyed following his son around the region to watch him race sprint cars on dirt tracks and he rarely missed an episode of the Price is Right.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include his wife, Jeanette Norman of Warsaw; his daughters: Chris (Bob) Hatfield of Winona Lake and Lisa (Greg) Estepp of Nappanee; sons: Terry Norman of Fremont and Tim (Cindy) Norman of Warsaw; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His parents; a granddaughter, Kelly Jo Hatfield and stepbrother, Jerry Kay all preceded him in passing.
A Life Celebration® is planned with the assistance of Titus Funeral Home. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church, 2819 Patterson Road, Warsaw, on Monday, October 21, 2019 beginning at 3 o’clock. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Steve Rahn will begin at 4 p.m. Private burial will take place be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Gifts in Ron’s memory may be given to the family for use at their discretion.
