Ronald D. "Ron" Smith

Ronald D. “Ron” Smith, 70, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 4:08 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 27, 1947 in Warsaw, IN to Richard D. “Dick” & Betty J. (Nealis) Smith.

He was a lifetime Milford / Syracuse area resident and graduated in 1966 from Milford High School. He was married on February 18, 1967 in Milford, IN to Connie J. (Biller) who preceded him on August 22, 1997. On March 28, 1998 in South Bend, IN he married Bernita B. (McGrew) Kiefer who survives. He was the former owner / operator of Smith Sanitation & Smith Floral & Balloons both in Milford, former co-owner of Smith Flower & Gift Shop in Milford for 23 years, formerly worked at Christner Sunoco Oil in Goshen for 10 years, and was a transport driver for local RV companies.

He formerly attended Living Gospel Church in Nappanee and formerly served on the Milford Volunteer Fire Dept.

He is survived by:

Wife – Bernita Smith of Syracuse

Daughter - Angie (Scot) Robbins of Syracuse

Son – Ryan (Jeanna) Smith of Goshen

2 Step Daughters – Lori (Mike) Kiefer – Parker of Warsaw & Kimberly (Chris) Rodak of Syracuse

6 Grand, 4 Step Grand, 4 Gt. Grand, 6 Step Gt. Grandchildren

Mother – Betty Smith of Goshen

Brother – Dan (Pam) Smith of Gunnison, CO

He was preceded in death by his father, 1st wife, and granddaughter – Ashlee Auer.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St. Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 in the funeral home with Pastor Sheldon Callahan of the Vineyard Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
