Ruth E. Hoffer passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 5:10 p.m. in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, Indiana. She was 62.
Ruth was born to Frank DeVon and Dorothy Elizabeth (Hershberger) Hoffer June 27, 1953 in Warsaw.
Ruth was a 1971 graduate of Mentone High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice through Indiana University South Bend.
Ruth lived most of her life in South Bend, Indiana where she was a supervisor for (DFCS) Department of Family and Children Services and later a supervisor at South Bend Juvenile Correctional Facility. She also taught at Brown Mackie College – all in South Bend.
Ruth loved to fish and was an avid reader. She was a huge Notre Dame Women’s Basketball fan.
She is survived by a brother: Chad Hoffer of Warsaw. Also surviving is her sister-in-law: Jan Hoffer, niece: Kerri Hoffer and great niece: Kami Malone – all of Dallas, Texas; and best friend: Christine DiPaola, Michigan City, Indiana.
Those preceding her in passing are her father: Frank D. Hoffer (May 26, 2015), mother: Dorothy E. Hoffer (August 8, 2015), and brother: Jon Hoffer (February 21, 1973).
According to Ruth’s wishes there will be no visitation or service.
The family has asked that memorial gifts in Ruth’s memory go to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, PO Box 1906, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1906.
