Ruth E. Mench, 90, of Syracuse, IN died at 1:17 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, IN. She was born on October 14, 1918 in New Paris, IN to John & Cecil (Strycker) Knisley.
She was a lifetime Elkhart / Kosciusko County area resident and moved to Syracuse in 1940. She attended New Paris High School and was married on June 8, 1940 in Goshen to James M. Mench who preceded her in death in 2003. She was a homemaker and a former Bunco Club member in Syracuse.
She is survived by:
4 Sons - Dennis Mench of Syracuse, Tom Mench of Livingston, MT, James Mench of Syracuse, & Jeffrey Mench of Warsaw;
5 Grandchildren 3 Great Grandchildren;
1 Sister - Mrs. Robert (Mary) Byrd of Syracuse;
3 Brothers - Kenneth (wife, Catherine) Knisley of Syracuse, Glen (wife, Mary Ann) Knisley of Leesburg, & Donald (wife, June) Knisley of New Paris.
She was preceded by her parents, husband, an infant sister, 4 brothers - Ralph, Carl, John Jr., & Clarence Knisley.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday August 16th at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN.
Memorial bequest may be given to New Hope Pet Rescue in Syracuse. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
