Samuel “Sam” Fauver, 92, Milford, IN passed away on December 30, 2021. He was born on November 26, 1929 in Bivalve, NJ. He was the first son born to Samuel and Katherine (Hopkins) Fauver. The family soon relocated to Neptune, NJ, and he graduated from Neptune High School in 1948. He attended Rutgers University one year before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 serving until 1954.
While stationed at Sewart Air Force Base in Smyrna, TN, he met his future wife, Nancy Thurman. They married on May 10, 1952 in Nashville, TN. and resided in Farmingdale, NJ for over 50 years before moving to Milford in 2006. Sam was always kind, hard-working, funny, and smart. He held a number of positions within the vending and food service industry, including owning/operating a Tom's Peanuts & Snacks route; managing vending operations for Surfside Beverages/PepsiCo; vending manager at Oyster Creek Nuclear Plant in NJ; and was often involved with other vending opportunities, all of which he dearly loved. He enjoyed his friends and family wherever he was, playing basketball, horseshoes, walking, the ocean, was an avid library patron, taught himself several piano pieces, loved music, telling funny stories, word plays and puns.
He will be missed by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Sue and son-in-law Bob Bowerman; 3 grandchildren, Rick (Carla) Bowerman, Laura (Rhett) Mikel, Jake Bowerman, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 sisters; Margaret Slater (NJ), Betty Hulick (NY), Jean (brother-in-law Peter) Brain (SC); and several nieces and nephews. His daughter, Sally Fauver; sister, Doris Laurenti; and brother, William Fauver preceded him in death.
Following his wishes cremation will take place. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Milford or Syracuse Public Library.
