Sandra J. "Sandy" Johnson

Sandra J. “Sandy” (MacPherson) Johnson, 85, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 11:29 a.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse, IN. She was born on February 6, 1930 in Fort Wayne, IN to Roy Powers & Bertha (Lear) MacPherson.

She graduated in 1948 from Glenn H. Curtiss Memorial High School in Hammondsport, NY and attended International Business College of Fort Wayne. On April 22, 1951 in Warsaw, IN she married Billy Joe Johnson who preceded her in 1999. She was formerly employed with Blue Bell, Weatherhead, & Precision Plastics all of Columbia City, IN, Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse, and pressed clothes at her home for many years. She moved in 1988 to the Syracuse / Nappanee area. She formerly lived in Columbia City, Warsaw, and Fort Wayne areas.

She was formerly a member of Calvary Temple of Fort Wayne and Church of the Brethren in Syracuse. She enjoyed riding horses when she was young, reading, singing in the church choir, and as a soloist.

She is survived by:

2 Daughters – Kellie (Glenn) Laughlin of New Paris and Janice Monnier of Warsaw

Son– Bruce (Terrie) Johnson of Churubusco

6 Grand & 13 Gt. Grandchildren

1 Step Grand & 5 Step Gt. Grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son – Roy Johnson, and granddaughter – Nicole Johnson.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Memorial services will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd. 15, Warsaw, IN.
