Sandra Lynn Sullivan, age 67, of Plymouth, IN passed away at home on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, after a long illness. She was born on September 10, 1949 in Elkhart, IN to Robert and Bea Everly Jr.
After earning a degree in Education from Purdue University in 1971, Sandy moved to Alaska where she taught for 3 1/2 years. She traveled across Europe for 6 months with the love of her life, John Clay Sullivan of Bremen, IN. They married on August 9, 1975. Together, they started the Wooden Peel and built, by hand, a house and barn near LaPaz, IN, where they raised their four children.
Sandy was a dedicated teacher at LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School for 12 years, and 3 more years at Bremen Middle School. She taught a wide range of subjects including English, Literature, Journalism and Drama. She sponsored many extracurricular activities, directed school plays, and supported numerous clubs and athletic programs. She retired in 2006.
An avid traveler, Sandy visited 49 states and scores of countries. She loved the outdoors, especially camping and hiking in places like Glacier National Park and the Grand Canyon. She also enjoyed music, theater, reading, gardening, crafting, and spending time with friends and family. Sandy touched many lives and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Sandy is survived by her husband: John Sullivan of Plymouth; her four children: Brady (Jennifer) Sullivan of Osceola, IN, Brian (Corin) Sullivan of Greenehaven, AZ, Aaron Sullivan of Cleveland, OH, and Abby (Andy) Arndt, of Angola, IN; her three grandchildren: Robin, Katlyn, and AJ; her mother: Bea Everly of Elkhart; and her brother: Robert Everly III of Elkhart. She was preceded in death by her father: Robert Everly Jr.
A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held at LaPaz Community Church of God on Thursday, October 13th at 5:00 PM. Visitation immediately following.
