Shawn G. Black, age 42 of rural Akron, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Friday, November 13, 2020 in Fulton County. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina and spent his formative years in Georgia, graduating from Oconee High School in 1996.
A truck driver for the past twenty years, Shawn held many different endorsements and licenses. Most recently, he was transporting feed for Creighton Brothers. He was a hard worker, was quite good at his job and felt at home on the road. He loved time spent on his Harley Ultra Glide, time he and his wife, Misty both enjoyed.
His tastes and hobbies were eclectic, much like Shawn himself. Although he looked intimidating, he was kind, friendly and helpful – a true teddy bear. He was also very smart and loved learning about space, technology, and science fiction. He was fan of brands like Tesla, Star Trek, and SpaceX.
On July 22, 2014, Shawn’s life was changed forever when he was married to Misty (Owens) Black, she survives at home. Also surviving are his son, Michael Black (wife, Shai) of Texas; stepsons, Ryan Swearengin of Kentucky and Stephen Flannery of Nappanee; mother, Alice Brown of Tennessee; father, Leo Black of Warsaw; sister, June Black of Tennessee; brother, Garvin Black of Tennessee; and sisters, Tonya Harrell of Fort Wayne, Kristina Harrell of Georgia and Cynthia Harrell of Georgia. He was preceded in passing by a sister, Elizabeth Black.
Shawn’s family will celebrate his life privately. Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN 46580 is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be directed toward his final expenses.
