Warsaw

Sidney P. Phillips, affectionately known as Sid, passed away on December 6, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital at the age of 71. Born on June 6, 1952, to George and Phyllis (Kleckner), he was a lifelong resident of Warsaw, IN. Sid had a long and fulfilling career at Robinson Construction in Warsaw, where he dedicated many years of his life. On June 24, 2000, he married Connie Byrer.

In addition to his successful career, Sid had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. He was an avid football fan and could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, including the Chicago Bears, Indiana Colts, and Notre Dame. Sid was also a passionate NASCAR fan with a special admiration for Dale Earnhardt.

His love for football extended beyond being a fan. Sid generously devoted his time to coaching pee wee football. He imparted valuable life lessons to countless young athletes as he coached the Kosciusko County Mustangs and the Michiana Thunderhawks football teams.

Sid found solace and fulfillment in serving the community. For many years, he donned the red suit and played Santa Claus for the Atwood Fire Department, bringing joy and laughter to children during the holiday season. Additionally, Sid shared his passion for music by playing in several bands and serving as their sound technician in later years. Throughout his life, Sid cultivated a deep admiration for Taz, the Tasmanian Devil, finding delight in this iconic character.

Sid is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Connie; his son, George (Kelsey) Phillips; his daughter, Michelle (Michael Wahlig) Schambers; and his cherished grandchildren, Carson and Hunter Phillips, Krista (Matthew) Anderson, Dennis (Ashley) Priser, and Ashley (Andrew) Bolinger. He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a sister, Sandy (Ray) Phillips Gafford Holguin. Sid was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Steve and Stan Phillips.
