Steven Carl "Steve" Winkelman

Steven Carl “Steve” Winkelman, 48, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on December 3, 1969 in Huntington, IN to Carl L. & Carolyn Patricia “Pat” (Florence) Winkelman.

He attended Whitko High School in South Whitley, graduated in 1987 from Amherst High School in Amherst, WI, and attended Ivy Tech Community College in Warsaw & Fort Wayne. He was employed at Ritter Electric in Syracuse since 2006, formerly worked at Franko Plumbing & Heating in North Webster, and formerly owned & operated Steve’s Drywall in Cromwell. He lived most of his adult life in the Cromwell / Syracuse area.

He was a member of the Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse and was a Scout Leader for the Syracuse Boy Scouts.

He is survived by:

Daughter – Mercedes Winkelman of Syracuse

Son – Justin Winkelman of Syracuse

Parents – Carl & Pat Winkelman of Custer, WI

2 Sisters – Rebecca (Steve) Collinson of Steelville, MO & Grace Winkelman of Custer, WI

3 Brothers – Matthew (Amber) Winkelman of Amherst, WI, Michael Winkelman of Rogers, AR, and John (Angela) Winkelman of Mammoth, CA

He was preceded in death by his sister – Christina Winkelman & brother – Joshua Winkelman.

Visitation will be from 4:00- 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Owen family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at The Vineyard Community Church, 7566 E 1000N, Syracuse, IN with Pastor Carl Winkelman & Pastor Kent Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
