Sue A. Baker, 80, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 3:42 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at her home. She was born on April 5, 1932 in Goshen, IN to William and Martha A. (Brown) Whetten.
She graduated in 1950 from New Paris High School and was a Syracuse area resident. She was married on March 29, 1951 to Ralph “Frank” Hoover who preceded her on July 8, 1970 and then on August 31, 1979 she married Dewey L. Baker who preceded her on July 8, 1986. She retired in 1995 from Dana Corporation in Syracuse after 42 years as a Quality Assurance Clerk.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 223 & V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 1382 both of Syracuse, D.A.V. Auxiliary in Goshen, and Dana Retirees in Syracuse.
She is survived by:
4 Daughters – Mrs. Joe Bill (Marilyn) Bartman of Syracuse; Mrs. Ronald (Faye) Church of New Paris; Jacqueline Blosser of Syracuse; & Janice Wood of Syracuse
1 Son – William “Bill” (wife, Norma) Hoover of Elkhart
14 Grandchildren & 29 Gt. Grandchildren
2 Sisters – Anita Whetten of New Paris & Mrs. Tom (Carolyn) Hull of Ligonier
4 Brothers – Jerry (wife, Ann) Whetten of Syracuse; Larry (wife, Lucy) Whetten of Edwardsburg MI; Gary Whetten & Marvin Whetten both of Baldwin, MI
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 1 grandson – Christopher Wood, 2 sisters – Nancy Peterson & Joan Hoover.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Brad Cox of the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating. Burial will follow in Syracuse Cemetery.
