Sylvia A. Baker, 75, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 7:20 a.m. at I.U. Goshen Hospital in Goshen, IN. She was born on December 25, 1938 in Gary, IN to John L. & Edna F. (Wolf) Hart.
She lived most of her life in the Syracuse area after coming here as a child from Hobart, IN. She graduated in 1958 from Syracuse High School and on May 28, 1988 in Wadsworth, OH she married Curtis E. Baker who preceded her on October 3, 2006. She retired in 1995 from Goshen Rubber Company after 34+ years of service.
She was a member of the Richville United Methodist Church in Ligonier; American Legion Post 223 Auxiliary & Eagles Lodge both of Syracuse and a life member of the D.A.V. in Goshen.
She is survived by:
Brother – Jack (Phyllis) Hart of Millersburg
Several nieces & nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister – Gloria Eyer, & nephew Todd Eyer.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Stan Owen of the Syracuse Church of God officiating. Private family burial will take place at the Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier.
