Thomas M. Kruger, of North Webster, passed away peacefully at Timbercrest Senior Living in North Manchester on March 29, 2025, at the age of 88. A valued member of his community, Thomas dedicated a significant portion of his life to his career, working for Silgan (formerly Monsanto) for 39 years, where he served as Crew Chief until his retirement in 1999. The son of Alton and Margaret (Burns) Kruger, Thomas was born on February 26, 1937, in Pierceton, Indiana.
Thomas was not only known for his professional achievements but also for his vibrant personality and interests. He was a spiritual man whose creative spirit found expression through various hobbies. Thomas enjoyed Ping Pong, fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting, thriving in the great outdoors. His love for nature was evident in his activities, which included camping and walking outside. As a skilled woodworker, he crafted toys and set pieces for checker and chess games. Additionally, he expressed his artistry through drawing characters, showcasing the creative dimension of his character. Tom was known as “The Poet”. He published 12 books, mostly spiritual poetry, and many about family and friends.
Thomas was a very spiritual man. He was a committed member of the Salem Community Missionary Church in Wilmot and previously attended the North Webster Church of God, where he participated actively in church activities and fostered community relationships.
He is survived by his daughters: Sue Bryant of North Webster, Pat (Ronald) Zeller of Auburn, Chris (Christopher) Riga of Florida, Lori (Mark) Minear of Pierceton, and Tina (Troy) Harney of Syracuse. His legacy continues through his 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, who will remember him fondly.
Thomas's passing marks the loss of a beloved patriarch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Margaret Kruger; his cherished wife, Alice; his great-grandson, Ephraim Michael Stull; and his brothers, Joseph and William "Bill" Kruger. He is also predeceased by sons-in-law, Steve Bryant and Rex Schrader.
Titus Funeral Home of North Webster is entrusted with Thomas' care. Visitation services for Thomas will be held at the funeral home, 8056 E 500 N, North Webster, IN 46555, on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Mocks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Salem Community Church or to the North Webster Community Center.
