Chris Bidwell, 84 and a resident of Pierceton for the past fifty-five years, passed away quietly on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 4:05 p.m at Paddock Springs Health Care where she’d lived for the past nine months.

Born on November 20, 1935 in Atwood, IN, she was the daughter of Arnold B. and Wilma J. (Huffman) Chrisenberry. She was a 1953 graduate of Atwood High School and went on to become an airline stewardess for Delta Airlines at age 21. She later returned to Atwood and was married to William Keith Bidwell on August 30, 1958. The two were married for 37 years before Keith passed on May 15, 1995.

Professionally, Chris worked for First National Bank and Joe Mater Collections before earning a position as Vice President of Helvey & Associates where she retired in 1997.

Chris loved traveling with her husband and their sons. They enjoyed camping, snowmobiling and, later in life, she enjoyed traveling with extended family, too. She was able to visit all 50 states and England, enjoying many fun, memorable trips and cruises. Chris enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos, golfing and always liked to be “on the go.” She belonged to many groups in the Warsaw area and was active in many community projects throughout her life. She volunteered with the American Red Cross, the Beaman Home, Pierceton Days Festival where she was a judge and as a poll worker on Election Day. She was a longtime member or Pierceton Presbyterian Church and served in many roles there.

In addition to her husband, Keith, those who preceded in passing include her close friend, Dr. Paul Grossnickle; her parents and her brothers, Gerald and Danny Chrisenberry. Those who survive include her sons, Bryan (Pam) Bidwell of Pierceton and Steve (Sherri) Bidwell of Muncie; five grandchildren: Krista (Bryan) Howard, Matt (Jacky) Tracy, Heather (Kevin) Potter, Michael (Lindsey) Bidwell and Emily (Seth) Christoffel; six great-grandchildren: Deegan, Claire, Carissa, Dawsyn, Carmen and Cohen and her sister, Vivian Owens. She also has many nieces and nephews who adored her visits.
