Viola V. Vanover, 97, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Mason Healthcare & Rehab in Warsaw, IN. She was born on March 28, 1921 in Wheeling, WV to Pete & Vade Pocholec.
She attended public school in Pound, VA and was married on April 15, 1941 in Pound, VA to Oakley O. Vanover who preceded her on December 28, 2006. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at United States Postal Service in Pound, VA for 5 years. She lived in Pound, VA most of her life until she moved to Syracuse, IN in 2005.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pound, VA.
She is survived by:
Daughter- Frances (Charles) Troup of Wyandotte, MI
3 Sons – Oakley (Louann) Vanover & Carl (Ellen) Vanover of Syracuse, and Dennis (Elaine) Vanover of Cromwell
8 Grand & 15 Gt. Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin sisters – Polly & Jessie Pocholec, and 2 brothers – Lonnie & John Pocholec.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Crouse Cemetery, Powers Dr., Pound, VA.
