Biography
William E. “Bill” Goshert, 86, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11:20 PM in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, Indiana.
Bill was born May 19, 1927 in Mentone, Indiana to Ronald Andy and Ruth (Burt) Goshert. He was a 1945 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and earned a Masters Degree in Education from North Manchester College (University) North Manchester, Indiana.
Entering the United States Navy on June 2, 1945, Baker 3c William Everette Goshert was honorably discharged July 23, 1946 from Great Lakes Naval Base.
Later that year on November 3, 1946 he and Delores “Dede” Hume were joined in marriage in Richmond, Indiana.
Bill was a lifetime Kosciusko County resident and was proudly employed by Warsaw Community Schools for 40 years where he ‘made a difference’ as a teacher, football coach and business manager. Bill was the high school football coach for Portland from 1955-1957, Warsaw from 1957-1965 and North Side from 1965-1969. He retired in 1987.
An active member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Bill was also a member of Fort Wayne Masonic Lodge, Retired Teachers Association of Indiana and Rosella Golf Course. Bill enjoyed playing golf and watching all venues of sports. He was especially proud when attending the special events of his grandchildren. Coaching was truly his passion along with working with youth of the community as demonstrated by the active part he played in the development of Warsaw’s Pee Wee Football program.
Survivors include his wife Delores “Dede” Goshert, Warsaw; 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Ann and Taylor Seward, Warsaw and Sherry and Charlie Stultz of South Bend, Indiana; son and daughter-in-law: Rocky and Joy Goshert of Warsaw. Also surviving are 7 grandsons and their spouses. They are: Brody and Katie Shively, Plymouth, Indiana; Cale and Cindy Shively of Noblesville, Indiana; Jeff and Allyson Stultz of Hilliard, Ohio; Brian and Kelly Stultz, South Bend; Cody Goshert, Taylor Goshert and Drake Klopfenstein - all of Warsaw; 9 great grandchildren; sister: Martha Houser, Fort Wayne; uncle, Jim (and Liola) Goshert, Mentone, Indiana; nephew, Gary (and Cindy) Goshert of Ligonier, Indiana; and Niece, Vonnie Miller of Asheville, North Carolina.
Those preceding Bill in death are his parents, Ronald Andy and Ruth Goshert and his brother, Lewis Goshert (December 19, 2012).
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Thursday, May 15th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service celebrating the life of William E. “Bill” Goshert will take place Friday, May 16th beginning at 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Personal friend, Lee Harman, lay leader from Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, where military honors will be conducted by Warsaw’s American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post #1126.
The family has asked that gifts in Bill’s memory be directed to Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, PO Box 1196, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1196.
