Willie Jernigan

September 30, 1945 — March 29, 2025

North Webster

William Moore Jernigan, lifelong resident of North Webster, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the age of 79. Known to most as “Willie”, he was born on September 30, 1945, in Cross Plains, Tennessee, the son of Hubert and Virgie Jernigan (Bush). He brought joy and laughter to those around him throughout his life. Although he could be stubborn, Willie was very generous and always willing to lend a helping hand, and those who knew him will remember his loud personality and warm spirit.

For 37 years, Willie dedicated his professional life to serving as the lead custodian at Dana in Syracuse. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his family and friends.

An avid outdoorsman, Willie was passionate about hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed turtle trapping and had a fondness for collecting antiques, proudly showcasing bronze statues, decoys, and Griswold cast iron pieces. Attending swap meets filled him with excitement, and his love for animals, especially his dogs, revealed a gentle and caring side to his strong personality.

Willie is survived by his two daughters, Jaime Ervin of North Webster and Tonya Bowser of Syracuse. He leaves behind six grandchildren: Dylan Bowser, Ryea (Jonathan) Fuller, Madilynn McDonald, Bodhi Bowser, Emily McDonald, and Jonathan McDonald, along with three great-grandchildren: Aowyn Fuller, Diem Fuller, and Rylan Bowser. He is further survived by his siblings, Sarah (Rick) Edgar of Goshen and Donald Jernigan of North Webster as well as many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Wayne and Kenneth Jernigan.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Willie's life on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Titus Funeral Home in North Webster, Indiana, 8056 E 500 N, North Webster, IN 46555.
