William Wayne McMillen, of Silver Lake, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 87. He was born on April 23, 1937, in Decatur, Illinois, the only son of John and Catherine McMillen (Ross).

After graduating from high school in Illiopolis, Illinois in 1955, Bill later went on to serve in the United States Army for three years. He married the love of his life, Patricia Jackson, on July 3, 1964. The two spent their lives raising their three girls, Diana, Debra, and Dana.

Bill led a fulfilling life as an architect, working for Miller and Sons, where he poured his creativity and passion into his projects. His knack for design and precision left a lasting impact on the structures he helped bring to life.

Bill was known for his love for his family. He truly enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also shared his diehard support for the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears with them. He found joy in the simple things in life, indulging in sweets and finding peace in watching the birds.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Pat McMillen; his daughters, Diana Goshert and Dana (James) Willard, along with a legacy of 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in passing by his parents and daughter, Debra Richardson.
