William “Duane” Rogers, 53 of Irvington, KY. went to be with the Lord at 8:12 pm, April 19, 2014 in his parents Claypool, IN home after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born August 28, 1960 in Rochester, IN to William Lloyal and Dorothy Marie (Thompson) Rogers. He was raised on the family farm and enjoyed raising steers and pigs. Duane graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1979 where he was a member of FFA. He was also a member of Packerton United Methodist Church in his youth. He resided in Irvington, KY where he worked for Yoder-Miller Carpentry. He previously had lived near Rochester, IN, Rosebush, MI, and Monte Vista, CO where he worked as a farmer and carpenter.
A devoted Christian, Duane was a compassionate, caring person with many friends. He loved raising his registered Belgian horses and his Great Pyrenees dog, Mabel. He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends.
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents: Dorothy and Dan Willis of Claypool; step mother: Cindy Weaver, Columbia City, Indiana; his siblings: Dan and Beth Willis of Terre Haute, IN; Sharissa and Hugh Hazeltine of St. Petersburg, FL; Shawnita Steffen, Goshen, IN; Susie Dussart of Albuquerque, NM; Shartrina and Matt White, Cape Haze, FL; Amy and Tracy Furnivall, Warsaw, IN; Sheila and Rich Groninger of Warsaw, IN; Shanna and Bruce Halas, Chicago, IL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death is his father, William Lloyal Rogers (September 16, 2001), maternal grandmother, Lois Thompson Scherer (December 2, 1999), maternal grandfather, Loren Joseph Thompson (January 23, 1968), paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Marie Rogers (February 2, 2000) and paternal grandfather, Maurice Sheldon Rogers (April 23, 1998).
Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Wednesday April 23rd from 1 - 4 PM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service celebrating the life of William “Duane” Rogers will follow beginning at 4 PM in the funeral home. Pastor William Wood of Packerton United Methodist Church, Pastor Jeff Pfeifer of Warsaw Community Church and Pastor Dr. Dan Willis of Hulman Street Wesleyan Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
The family asked that gifts in memory of Duane be given to Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, PO Box 1196, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1196.
