William E. "Bill" Thompson

William E. “Bill” Thompson, 87, of Wakarusa, IN (formerly of Leesburg, IN) passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living in Wakarusa, IN. He was born on September 8, 1931 in Wolf Lake, IN to Ira James & Reuah (Boggs) Thompson.

He graduated in 1951 from Wolf Lake High School, was a United States Army veteran, and attended Dana University to receive his Certified Manager Degree. He was married on June 1, 1958 in LaPorte, IN to Mary Jane Moore who preceded him on August 27, 2016. He moved to Leesburg area in 1963 from Kimmell / Wolf Lake, IN area and retired in 1993 as a Purchasing Agent from Dana Corporation after 41 years of service.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oswego and American Legion Post 253 in North Webster. He was a former Boy Scout Leader in North Webster and then was the District Training Chairman & Vice Chairman of the Boy Scouts for Kosciusko County.

He is survived by:

Daughter – Connie (Jeff) Kaiser of Albion

2 Sons – Alan (Julia) Thompson of Wakarusa & James (Nancy) Thompson of Novi, MI

6 Grandchildren – Ryan Thompson, Jon Thompson, Maggie Kaiser, Katie Thompson, Amy Thompson, and Will Kaiser

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 6 Sisters – Mary Thompson, Lillian Swanson, Dora Braden, Lena Kiester, Grace Buckles, & Betty Kilgore, and a brother – John Coverstone.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April, 11, 2019 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster, IN. Funeral services will be at  11:00 on Friday, April 12, 2019 in the funeral home with Pastor Ron Manahan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
