William F. "Bill" Charlton

William F. “Bill” Charlton, 81, of North Webster, IN passed away at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 3, 1934 in Millersburg, IN to Gerald W.  & Agatha Mae (Orn) Charlton.

He graduated in 1952 from Milford High School, attended International Business College in Ft. Wayne and was a United States Army veteran. He was married on November 27, 1954 in Larwill, IN to Marlene D. Rush who preceded him in 1995 and on October 12, 1996 in Syracuse to Alice M. (Stump) Moerchen who survives. He retired from United Tech in Columbia City after 20+ years and formerly worked at Weatherhead / Dana Corporation in Syracuse for 24 years. He lived most of his life in the Milford / North Webster / Syracuse areas except 2 years in Chicago.

He was a member of the Church of God in North Webster, Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster and formerly attended the Church of Nazarene in Syracuse.

He is survived by:

Wife – Alice Charlton of North Webster

Daughter – Deanna (Todd) Koble of Syracuse

2 Sons - Douglas (Rita) Charlton of Tucson, AZ and Steve (Shelia) Charlton of Syracuse

4 Step Daughters – Stephanie (Brian) Scott of Warsaw; Sara (Kermit) Kropf of Syracuse; Leah Glassburn of Fort Wayne & Amanda (Nathan) Swanson of Park City, UT

3 Step Sons – Greg (Missy) Moerchen of Fort Wayne; Todd (Lisa) Moerchen of Oldsmar, FL & Jeffrey Moerchen of New York City, NY

17 Grand & 11 Gt. Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, 2 sisters – Geraldine Chupp & Dorothy Elliott and brother – Warren Charlton.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Milford Cemetery.
