William L. "Bill" Tarman

March 21, 1931 — June 18, 2020

William L. “Bill” Tarman, 89, of Goshen, IN (formerly of New Paris, IN) passed away 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at Green House Village of Goshen and is now with his Lord & Savior. He was born on March 21, 1931 in Denver, CO to Wilma Tarman.

He graduated in 1949 from New Paris High School and was a United States Korean Army veteran. He was married on February 28, 1969 in Goshen, IN to Shirley A. (Melcher) Weybright who survives. He retired as a brick mason for Neff Masonry & Rock Builders for many years and was the former co-owner / founder of Parmore Golf Course in New Paris for 23 years. He worked part time at Thwaits Realty and B & B Builders in New Paris. He was a lifetime New Paris area resident until he moved to Goshen in May 2015.

He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Goshen and formerly attended the Nappanee Missionary Church. He was named Citizen of the year in 2006 by the New Paris Chamber of Commerce. He served on the New Paris Chamber Board for 22 years, New Paris Sesquicentennial Committee in 1986, New Paris Cemetery Board, Jackson Township Improvement Corporation, and the New Paris Conservancy Board.

He is survived by:

Wife – Shirley Tarman of Goshen

3 Daughters – Dawn (John) Wysong of Fremont, Tami (Robert) Shriner of New Paris, and Nanette (Mark) Stoops of Fremont, IN

2 Step Daughters – Kimberly (Darrell) Troyer of New Paris & Monica (Brett) Garner of Goshen

10 grand & 15 Gt. Grandchildren

Half-Brother – Richard Roth of Baltimore, MD

Half- Sister – Nancy Syms of Colorado Springs, CO

He was preceded in death by his mother – Wilma Roth, granddaughter - Kelsey Stoops, and half-brother – Robert Roth.

Private family graveside services will take place in the New Paris Cemetery with Pastor Greg Lanzen officiating. Owen Family Funeral Home 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN is in charge of arrangements.

The Tarman family would like to thank the staff at Green House Villages of Goshen and Harbor Light Hospice.
